Like Shadows
Stepping out
On long unused pathways
Through a weeping mist
Through all the familiar places
Behind us the crumbling walls
The deep vividness of night
Falling on waves of fire
The rose’s velvety folds
A heavy, scented breeze
Winding new roads
To old places
Petals full of moonlit dew
Endlessly entwined
Spilling colours
Lilies float in a sea of green
In pools reflecting ancient glades
And die
Like shadows on the deep
